Prior to this offering, agencies were having to take their clients to Atlanta, Georgia for a day to a day and a half. This is very disruptive to both the staff member who has to be out of the office as well as the client who is being evaluated. The focus of these evaluations are: the victim, the perpetrator, as well as a risk assessment of the perpetrator and their environment.
This assessment processs is based upon protocols originally developed by Ross, Loss & Associates © 1987. The report seeks to evaluate the presence, extent, nature, and seriousness of sexually inappropriate and/or sexually aggressive behavior. The report utilizes a well-defined, empirically based model that describes etiologic variables. Constructs from the model are used to operationally define the content areas covered by the report. Guided by the content domains, a large pool of items has been developed over time and administered to criterion and matched comparison groups by a number of researchers. Criterion groups were chosen to exemplify the characteristic being measured.
Of concern to the present evaluation is the likelihood of re-offense, i.e.- recidivism. Recidivism rates can be expected to vary according to offense history and the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of a given population. The definition of recidivism as it relates to the current assessment involves the use of predictors that involve specific behavioral and demographic offender characteristics. Static predictors are used within the assessment to estimate the degree of risk that an offender presents.
