FOSTER CARE RESPITE SATURDAYS - We are in the process of developing special ‘foster parent respite’ weekend events at our 5th street facility. On designated Saturdays, foster parents may drop their foster children off at 9AM, at 632 Fifth Street. We will have a day filled with activities, outings to fun places like Fort Discovery, and special events. Lunch will be provided. We will also provide access to computers so that foster children will have resources to complete homework, research projects and the like. If foster parents provide the needed supplies, our staff will assist the foster child complete their projects for school. At the end of the day, foster children will be picked up at 4:30 PM. Reservations will be required in advance by calling (706) 828-4855 weekdays. Space is limited and reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

MONTHLY MOVIES - We are also planning a monthly "Movie Time" event. The fifth street (Augusta) facility will become a movie-house of sorts, showing current movies to foster children, complete with popcorn and soft drinks. Foster parents can schedule for either of two weekends per month.

FREE FOOD - To show our support for foster parents, we are also working to gain the support of local restaurants to "Let the Foster Parent Eat Free." We hope to have coupons from a different restaurant each month, and hand them out to foster parents as they drop off their foster kids for the Saturday respite. It is our way to let the foster parents know that they are special and appreciated by the staff and providers of the Institute.

LOW COST SCHOOL SUPPLIES – We are currently negotiating with major local retailers to support our foster parents by providing reduced-cost school supplies. As a part of our team, foster parents will be able to purchase school supplies for their foster children at near-wholesale prices.
